Star Hill Farm Whisky (2025) — Maker’s Mark
Star Hill Farm Whisky (2025)—Maker’s Mark
What Makes It Special
This is a landmark release:Star Hill Farm Whisky is Maker’s Mark’s first non-bourbon release in over 70 years.
It uses a wheat-whisky mash concept: a blend of two mash bills—one with70% soft red winter wheat + 30% malted barley, and the other 100% malted soft red winter wheat.
The release is aged for7-8 years(distilled and barreled in 2016 & 2017) before bottling.
Bottled at114.7 proof (57.35% ABV).
Emphasis on sustainability: grains are sourced locally (much of them from the Star HillFarm estate/distillery grounds), and regenerative agriculture is a key part of the project. Italso carries an Estate Whiskey Certification.
Flavor Profile & Tasting Notes
Aroma / Nose: Butter caramel, golden raisins, gingerbread, baking spices; fruit notes such as cherries and darker red berries; some oak and classic Maker’s warmth.
On the Palate:Rich & complex. Flavors of toasted wheat, chocolate-covered cherries ,apple pie spice, more berry notes (raspberry, strawberry), toasted oak, some nutty notes, and deeper malted sweetness. There’s some warmth from the proof, but many find it balanced thanks to the wheat mash bill.
Finish:Medium to long. Oak and char become more present toward the end, with lingering notes of dried fruit, leather, soft spice (like cinnamon), toasted pecans, perhaps some dry oak. Some reviewers do note a more astringent oak presence in the finish that tempers the sweetness.
Rarity / Collectibility
This is a limited, inaugural release. As Maker’s Mark launches this new line (wheat whisky), early bottles are particularly prized.
Not packaged in the usual Maker’s Mark red-wax bottle; different bottle shape, different branding signals.
Initial availability was limited (distillery, select retailers).

Dear Friends,
On Saturday, September 27 , 2025, the Woody Williams Foundation will proudly host the 3 annual Woody Williams Legacy of Service Celebration in Louisville, KY. This special evening honors the enduring mission of Hershel “Woody” Williams, Medal of Honor recipient, who dedicated his life to serving others—especially Gold Star Families. The event will highlight the growing impact of the Foundation and the legacy Woody left behind.
This year, we celebrate the addition of several new Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments, expanding our reach to over 220 points of service across the country. With more than 20 active Outreach locations, we continue to bring meaningful support directly to the families and communities who need it most. Each monument now serves as a mission hub, allowing us to deliver programs focused on education, outreach, and connection. These locations help us identify the unique needs of Gold Star Families and respond with purpose. We’re also deepening our relationships across the Veteran Serving community, expanding access to resources and ensuring long-term care for the families of the fallen. Your continued support helps make this possible. Whether you were moved by Woody himself or feel called to support military families, we invite you to stand with us. We look forward to seeing you in Louisville for a night of remembrance, purpose, and gratitude.
With appreciation,
Dr. Mark E. Harris USMC (RET.)
