16" "Call of Duty" Statue. The Texas Legislature named Edd Hayes as the Official Texas State Sculptor for 1999. At the Texas/Oklahoma border in Gainesville, Texas at the Texas Travel & Information Center stands the 15 foot "Call fo Duty" statue designed by Hayes. The statue was dedicated on Veteran's Day 2006. It was the first monument solely dedicated to WWII veterans in Texas and honors the service of the 103rd Infantry Division's combat veterans, especially the unit's 847 soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice. "From the Peace Makers of WWII may it in the future remind travelers of the price and sacrifices required to protect their freedom. It will be there when we are gone. We are proud to have been part of this Greatest Generation." This miniature bronze is 6" in overall height (wooden base is 2" high) and 9.5" at the base's widest point.
